About the Sport Synchronized swimming is a combination of strength, endurance, flexibility, balance and grace. It takes both physical and mental means to achieve success. Synchronized swimming includes the performance of figures and of routines in solo, duet and team competition. Figures consist of specified movements and positions in combination. In routines, some of these figures or hybrids (combination of figures) are synchronized to music and other swimmers. Attention is given to choreography, synchronization, interpretation of the music and technical execution. In competition, swimmers perform both routines and figures in front of a panel of judges who apply nationally agreed upon standards in the form of marks from 1.0-10.0.
VolunteersThe smooth running of the association depends upon willing volunteers who serve as administrative members, officials, coaches and program coordinators. The future direction of Synchronized Swimming in Alberta is influenced in no small way by this volunteer section. If you would like to become involved in any way with Synchronized Swimming, please contact the office, we appreciate your interest and support. |
